Newport Railway Workshops Preservation Group
Issue FFF 52 means that FFF articles have appeared every week on Facebook for a whole year. There is so much to write about Newport. The petition that was signed by over 6000 people was presented to two government ministers in May last year. Thousands have looked at our website and followed the Facebook page each week.
Our goal is to see the government designate the old Heritage-listed workshops as a heritage rail precinct and used only for rail heritage activities. People are starting to understand that only the government can turn the current situation around. VicTrack only have concerns to provide for modern rail transport needs. We say there are other ways and locations where this can be achieved without destroying Victoria’s history. The workshops played a key role in developing the state transport and economy – a continuing story which needs to be told.
Many of the articles and photos are there. You can also read bout our goals and how you can support our group.
So for our one-year anniversary, we are announcing a membership drive. We want to upgrade our presentation to ministers and other involved with saving the workshops. We can only achieve that with the financial help of an increased membership. So please consider this as an investment in saving Victoria’s history for future generations. Have a look at ‘contact’ on the last page of our website or click on the link ‘How to become a member’ bar and fill in your details.
